INVISALIGN FAQs

What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten teeth
without braces. Your teeth are straightened gradually, without metal or wires, using a series of removable, clear
aligners.
It's really difficult for people to tell that you're
wearing Invisalign -- even up close. The aligners are convenient to use and because they are removable, you can
eat, brush your teeth and floss with ease. Smile without holding back. There's nothing to hide with Invisalign.
How long does Invisalign take?
As with all types of braces, treatment times will vary depending on how much straightening your teeth require.
Total treatment time is about the same as traditional braces, between 9 and 18 months.
During treatment, the average number of alilgners worn is between 18 and 30.
How often must I wear my aligners?
Wear your aligners all day, except when eating, brushing or flossing if you want the best, quickest results.
Are there restrictions on what I can eat while in treatment?
No. Because your aligners can be removed, you can eat and drink whatever you want while you are in treatment.
In fact, you're required to remove your aligners to eat and drink, so there is no need to restrict your consumption of
favorite snacks and foods.
How often must I see Dr. Roth?
Dr. Roth and his staff will schedule regular appointments – usually about once every six weeks.
The goal of these visits is to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
Will Invisalign treatment be painful?
While Invisalign straightens your teeth without the anxiety and pain associated with metal braces,
some people may experience temporary discomfort for a few days at the beginning of each new stage of treatment.
This is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure. It's also a sign that Invisalign is working, as the aligners move your teeth toward their final destinations.
If there is discomfort, it typically goes away in a couple of days.
Will wearing Invisalign aligners affect my speech?
Similar to other orthodontic treatments, Invisalign aligners may temporarily affect the speech of some people, and you may have a slight lisp for a day or two. However, as your tongue gets used to having aligners in your mouth, any lisp caused by the aligners should disappear.
